I just found an article that discusses the benefits of having your dog wear sunglasses! The concept seems so ridiculous that I just had to read the article. Well, even after reading the article I still find it downright silly, but the concept is so unique that I thought I’d write about it here just for fun.
According to the author, some veterinarians actually recommend the use of sunglasses for dogs! They say that because dogs tend to be outside for longer durations than humans, their eyes are at greater risk of harm from the nasty UV rays of the sun. The need is even greater if your dog happens to already be suffering from eye inflammation, as protection from floating debris and foreign bodies will help accelerate the healing process.
Ok, I get it. Swimmers, drivers, flyers, skiers, hunters, athletes, celebrities and pretty much every other category of human wears sunglasses, so why not dogs? The only thing I have to ask, which of course was not covered in the article, is how the heck do you get the sunglasses to stay on your dog’s head? I mean, I’m sure you could strap them on, but many dogs don’t like anything on their heads so sooner or later they will find a way to remove it.
Anyway, that is enough of that silliness for one day. Just to be perfectly clear, I don’t condone buying sunglasses for your dog – whether Matrix Sunglasses or some other type. I just thought the concept was so out of left field that you might get a kick out of it!
