Considerations for Choosing Cool Sunglasses

Whether you wear Matrix sunglasses or some other type, sooner or later you will need a new pair. Nothing lasts forever, not even our Neo Sunglasses (sorry…shameless plug!). Anyway, the process of finding a new pair of shades that actually looks cool on you can be somewhat daunting. Therefore, it’s helpful to have a framework to help guide you through.

Obviously whatever sunglasses you choose must offer top-notch protection from the UV rays of the sun. Most shades these days are equipped with lenses that offer this protection, so you won’t need to break the bank. Just make sure the lenses are labeled as being protective.

In terms of how the shades actually look on you, probably the most critical consideration is the shape of your face. Simply put, some sunglasses will look great on one facial shape, but horrible on another. For example, sunglasses with round frames tend to look good on someone with a square face (and vice versa), but not so much for someone with a round face. So the first step is to figure out whether you have a round, oval, square, heart-shaped, diamond-shaped, or oblong face.

Another consideration is your overall personality and style. For example, Lennon specs (such as Seraph Sunglasses) do not match everyone’s personality. Same goes for oversized shades. Similarly, sunglasses with mirrored blue lenses might look good on a ski bum, but might not be appropriate to wear to the office. So figure out if you are casual or formal, wild or conservative, modern or old-fashioned, etc. And don’t forget to consider the activities during which you will be wearing the sunglasses. For example, if you play lacrosse then you will need higher quality, impact resistant shades, and if you fish on the open water, you’ll need sunglasses with polarized lenses.

Once you have considered all of these factors, you can then start doing research to find the best pair for you. Conduct a Google image search using keywords that are relevant to your personal attributes, such as “modern fishing sunglasses for oval faces” or something like that. You could also look through celebrity fashion magazines to see what’s hot, or solicit advice from an employee at the local sunglass shop. Then, once you have identified your shortlist of awesome sunglasses, try them on and simply choose the one that you like best. Follow these tips, and you’ll have a new pair of cool sunglasses in no time. Good luck!
