Morpheus Sunglasses Back in Stock

July 22nd, 2010

Well folks, it has been a long few months for us here at matrixeyewear.com, but at long last we have finally received our brand new inventory of the Morpheus Sunglasses.  And with stronger spring-loaded nose clips and enhanced UV protection, they are better than ever!  Our shop is now fully stocked with all your favorite Matrix sunglasses, including the Neo Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, Trinity Sunglasses, Twins Sunglasses, and Seraph Sunglasses.

In retrospect, the closure of our former factory was actually a blessing in disguise.  Although it took a relatively long time to find a new supplier, our due diligence paid off.  Our Morpheus Sunglasses are now even better than before, yet the price has not increased.  Better quality for the same price equals a better value for your dollar, period.  Everybody wins!

Our new and improved Morpheus Sunglasses incorporate the best elements of our other Matrix sunglasses.  For example, the lens color is a dark shade of tempered black similar to the Agent Smith Sunglasses and Neo Sunglasses.  Additionally, the shape of the lens is similar to the Seraph Sunglasses, and the lens frames are equivalent in terms of durability and toughness to those of the Twins Sunglasses & Trinity Sunglasses.   In fact, all of our Matrix eyewear is top-notch and fully guaranteed.

But don’t just take our word for it, get yourself a pair and see for yourself.  You have nothing to lose with our unprecedented 1-year “no questions asked” warranty.  Additionally, all of our Morpheus Sunglasses come with a free hard-shell case, and as with all of our Matrix sunglasses you still get free shipping plus a third pair for free when you purchase any other 2 Matrix eyewear styles (the Neo Sunglasses – Reloaded style is the standard free pair).

It is always nice to be able to convey good news, and we here at Matrix Eyewear truly thank you for your patience and loyalty.  Whether you want the Agent Smith Sunglasses, Twins Sunglasses, Trinity Sunglasses, Seraph Sunglasses, or something else, matrixeyewear.com is your one-stop shop for all Matrix sunglasses.

Morpheus Sunglasses: Update on Availability

June 17th, 2010

This is a follow-up to a previous post regarding the availability of the Morpheus Sunglasses, which have been out of stock for a few months now.

As you know, our Matrix Sunglasses are the highest quality available.  Whether it’s the Neo Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, Trinity Sunglasses, Seraph Sunglasses, Twins Sunglasses, or something else, our primary goal is always top-notch quality.  This is great for our loyal customers, but can sometimes be a pain when dealing with our manufacturing network.  With the economic downslide, we have seen an increasing number of companies in the manufacturing sector attempt to sneakily cut their costs by incorporating lower quality raw materials into the finished product.

This is exactly what happened with our expected shipment of Morpheus Sunglasses.  We did indeed receive our shipment of these in April, but unfortunately they were rejected because the quality was unacceptable.  Simply put, they were crap and were not appropriate for inclusion into our line of premium Matrix Sunglasses.

So, we filtered through our manufacturing network and decided to move the production of the Morpheus Sunglasses to an alternative manufacturer.  We are confident that this move will produce the quality that we and our customers expect and demand.

The manufacturing process is already in full swing and we expect to have these back in stock in approximately 5 weeks (the end of July).  We apologize for the massive delay, but these things happen from time to time whenever you’re dealing with all aspects of the supply chain.

So there you have it.  Be patient, we WILL have our super high-quality Morpheus Sunglasses back in stock very soon.  If you would like a notification when they are back in stock, just send an email to  orders@matrixeyewear.com and you will be contacted when they are ready for purchase.

In the interim, all of our other high quality Matrix Sunglasses are still available for purchase, such as the Neo Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, Trinity Sunglasses, Seraph Sunglasses, and Twins Sunglasses.

History of Matrix Sunglasses

May 27th, 2010

Although we specialize in Matrix eyewear accessories as well as premium Matrix Sunglasses like Neo Sunglasses, Morpheus Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, Seraph Sunglasses and Trinity Sunglasses, I thought I would approach this blog post a little differently than previous posts.  Specifically, I want to go way back in time – to the very beginning – and discuss the history and origin of sunglasses in general.

The concept of sunglasses can be traced back more than 800 years ago.  The first known mention of protective eyewear was in 12th century China, where a semi-translucent stone known as “smoky quartz” was used to craft the lenses.  Back then, these smoky quartz sunglasses were used not only for eye protection, but also to conceal facial expressions in certain situations (for example, a trial judge).

Sunglasses as we know them today – Matrix eyewear or otherwise – were essentially invented in the 18th century.  In the 1750’s, people began experimenting with placing tinted lenses in regular eyeglasses.  Although the resulting blue and green tinted lenses offered no protection from the harmful rays of the sun, these products represent the birth of sunglasses as we know them today.

The concept really took off in the early 20th century, as sunglasses were often worn by celebrities to conceal their identity as well as to hide their perpetually red eyes caused from the movie studio lamp technology used during this era.  In 1929, the first mass-produced sunglasses were launched in the US and sold on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.  In 1936, the first polarized sunglasses were produced by Edwin Land, using his patented Polaroid filter.

From there, the market exploded and ultimately facilitated the creation of the Matrix Sunglasses you know and love – like Neo Sunglasses, Morpheus Sunglasses and Agent Smith Sunglasses.   The celebrity angle continues to drive much of the market even to this day, and this is evident with the continued popularity of our Matrix eyewear as well as hundreds of other movie-inspired styles all across the Internet.

Of course, the Hollywood angle is not the sole driver of the market.  The vast majority of the global population wears sunglasses on a regular basis to promote eye protection and comfort.  There are also tons of more specialized applications as well.  For example, they are worn by fishermen to reduce the glare on the water, by skiers to reduce snow glare, by people coming out of eye surgery, by people wishing to conceal their emotional / non-verbal cues, by people wishing to make a fashion statement, by blind people, by people wanting to hide an optical disfigurement, and more.

The bottom line is that after 800 years of evolution, sunglasses are an engrained part of our global society.  Whether it’s the Agent Smith Sunglasses, Neo Sunglasses, Morpheus Sunglasses, Trinity Sunglasses, Seraph Sunglasses, or any other style of Matrix Sunglasses, you can rest assured that our products are way better than the smoky quartz versions from 800 years ago!!

Summer Tips for Matrix Sunglasses

May 6th, 2010

Ah, here in New Jersey – where Matrix Eyewear is located – summertime is right around the corner.  The days are getting longer, the temperatures are creeping higher…and the sun is getting brighter!

Yes, summer is coming, and if you are like most people, you will be wearing your Matrix Sunglasses (hopefully) more during the summer months than any other time of the year, combined.  And that is a good thing, because it’s critical to protect your eyes from the harmful UV rays of the sun.

In light of the warmer weather, I thought I would review some important safety tips related to your sunglasses.  No matter if you have Neo Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, Seraph Sunglasses, Morpheus Sunglasses, or something else, these tips are worth a quick read.  All of these are common sense, but a reminder is good every once in a while.

First and foremost, if you are out in the bright sunshine, wear your Matrix Eyewear!  We use only top quality lenses that are protective as well as cool looking.  But whether you wear Matrix Sunglasses or some other type, make sure the lenses are equipped with UV400 protection, which is the best protection available for your eyes.

And wearing sunglasses is even more critical in certain situations, such as swimming in a pool (reflective light), playing a sport such as basketball or volleyball that requires looking up, or being on a beach where hazy sunshine can fool you into thinking the sun is not as bright as it really is.  It is also a good idea to wear scratch-resistant and shatterproof lenses for obvious reasons.

Also, make sure you wear comfortable sunglasses that fit properly.  If you are like most people, you are typically more active in the summer than at any other time of the year, so your sunglasses need to stay on!

Additionally, whether it is Matrix Sunglasses or another style, sunglasses that are too small will not only decrease your comfort level, but they can also allow UV rays to creep into your eyes.  So if your sunglasses seem to be too large or too small for your face, time to buck up and get a new pair!  This is why we offer multiple styles – like Neo Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, Seraph Sunglasses & Morpheus Sunglasses – because different people have differently shaped and sized heads.

Finally, make sure you keep the lenses clean.  Believe it or not, dirty lenses can cause long-term vision problems, so use the microfiber bags you receive with our Matrix Eyewear, or some other cleaning mechanism, to regularly remove smudges, streaks and smears.

So, there you have it – a few common sense tips to help you from going blind this summer!  And hey, while you’re here, why not check out some of our excellent Matrix Sunglasses?  Whether it’s the Neo Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, Seraph Sunglasses, or the Morpheus Sunglasses, you can rest assured that we use only the highest quality materials and most protective lenses you will ever find.

Matrix Sunglasses and Metal Frames

April 12th, 2010

In previous blog posts, I have discussed the importance of quality lenses.  After all, the main function of sunglasses – Matrix Sunglasses or otherwise – is to shield your eyes from those nasty ultra-violet sunrays.  Thus, the quality of the lenses is the most critical measure of sunglass quality.

That said, frame quality is also somewhat important, albeit not quite as critical as lens quality.  When selecting eyewear, whether it’s Neo Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, Trinity Sunglasses, or Seraph Sunglasses, it would be wise to consider the frames.

There are several materials from which frames are made, but the two primary frame materials are plastic and metal.  Each material impacts quality, comfort, and price, and as you can imagine there are tradeoffs in each.

Generally, plastic frames are usually at the lower end of the quality scale.  Although some plastic materials are sturdy and impact-resistant, others can become discolored or simply fall apart after some period of usage.  Plastic materials can also become warped and misshapen, especially in extremely hot and humid climates.  Thus, if you are considering sunglasses with plastic frames, make sure the plastic material is of high-quality (and, make sure you do not live anywhere near the Equator!).

Metal frames are usually better than plastic frames, because they tend to last longer and maintain their shape better over time.  This is why all of our Matrix Sunglasses come with standard metal frames (except of course the Morpheus Sunglasses, which do not have frames).  Common materials for metal frames include aluminum, nickel, stainless steel, and titanium.

Titanium and stainless steel in particular are thought to be two of the best frame materials you can find because they weigh very little yet are strong, and they do not corrode.  Both materials are also hypoallergenic, so they work well for folks who are allergic to other metallic materials, and both can accommodate prescription lenses very well.  Really, the main difference between these two metal frames is that the stainless steel ones tend to cost less.

So again, metal frames are usually the way to go, and our Agent Smith Sunglasses, Neo Sunglasses, Trinity Sunglasses, and Seraph Sunglasses all have metal frames.  In fact, all of our Matrix Sunglasses have metal frames (again, except for the Morpheus Sunglasses).  Plastic is sometimes ok, but you would be well-served to stick with metal, especially in extreme climates.

Morpheus Sunglasses Will Be Back!

March 24th, 2010

As the planet’s premier retailer of killer Matrix Sunglasses like Neo Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, and more, we always strive to keep our customers informed.  Therefore, the purpose of this week’s blog post is to let you know that we are currently out of the Morpheus Sunglasses.  We do, however, expect them to be back in stock by the end of April, which at the time of this writing is roughly 4 weeks away.

The problem is that our manufacturer was unable to procure the specific silicon nose pads necessary to manufacture the Morpheus Sunglasses because the supplier of that particular component suddenly went out of business!   Whoever says the economy is improving clearly does not work in the manufacturing sector!

As you probably already know, we aim to use only the highest quality raw materials in our Matrix sunglasses, so it took some time to locate an adequate replacement.  Although our manufacturer has located an alternate supply of the nose pads, the production delay has created a backlog.  In other words, it will take a few weeks for us to catch up.

In the meantime, all of our other high quality Matrix Sunglasses are still in stock, including the Neo Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, Trinity Sunglasses, Seraph Sunglasses, and Twins Sunglasses

If you would like to be notified when the Morpheus Sunglasses are back in stock, just send us an email at orders@matrixeyewear.com and you will be contacted when they are available.

So there you have it.  I hope you found this quick update to be useful and informative.  If you have any questions at all about this or any of our Matrix sunglasses, please let us know.

The Correlation between Price and Quality

March 11th, 2010

Whether it’s Matrix Sunglasses, Oakley Sunglasses, Ray Ban Sunglasses, or anything in between, the range of prices you will see runs all over the board.  I’ve seen sunglasses sell for $1.50 at the local convenience store.  I’ve also seen the outrageous gold-rimmed sunglasses the designer Dolce and Gabbana released a couple years ago for the cool price of $383,606!

Even within brands, styles, or market niches, the prices can vary widely.  For example, you can find similar-looking Morpheus Sunglasses at different price points and varying levels of quality.  Online costume stores generally sell the cheap-quality $10 variety, whereas other shops like Matrix Eyewear choose to sell a much higher-quality version at a higher price point (in our case, $49.95).

So, which offers the better value?  Is it better to pay $10 for costume Morpheus Sunglasses that might last a month, or is it better to pay $49.95 for a pair that will last years? Only you can decide.

In this example, it seems obvious that you would not want the costume-quality pair, but other decisions may not be so cut and dry. The good news is that sunglasses do not have to be expensive to protect your eyes, but on the other side of the coin, a high price tag is not always a guarantee of high quality.

Thus, price is not necessarily indicative of quality.  The primary determinant of quality relates to the lenses and their ability to protect your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun.  This ability is not tied to the price tag, darkness of the lenses, or even the lens material.  It is tied to the degree to which the lenses have been enhanced by adding protective chemicals and/or a special coating specifically designed to optimize the absorption of UV light.

Always choose sunglasses that are labeled as blocking 99-100% of UV rays, like all of our Matrix Sunglasses, which offer UVA and UVB protection (UV400 Protection – the best protection for your eyes).

The bottom line is that you do not need to break the bank to protect your eyes.  Therefore, the only conclusion I can make regarding the correlation between price and quality is that it is fuzzy and inconclusive at best.

The “Five C” Framework for Buying Matrix Sunglasses

February 9th, 2010

Buying sunglasses – Matrix Sunglasses or otherwise – can sometimes be a bit daunting by virtue of the sheer number of choices available.  You have plenty of decision-points around style, color, quality, price, eye protection, etc.

With this in mind, I’d like to share some insights from an interesting article I stumbled upon the other day.  The article discussed the decision-making-process involved in purchasing sunglasses, and boiled the whole thing down to the “five C’s” – comfort, clarity, care, color & cost.  I really like the framework, and I think it’s a terrific way to simply the buying process.

Comfort is self-explanatory.  You don’t want something that feels like it’s made of broken glass.  Also, the sunglasses should fit well, and keep in mind that everyone has a different shaped head.  For example, our Morpheus Sunglasses are relatively slim from lens-to-lens, so they typically do not look right on someone with a large face or head.  Conversely, our Agent Smith Sunglasses are nice and wide and thus are very appropriate for a large-headed individual.

Clarity refers to the visual quality of the lenses.  Cheaply-made lenses could be blurry, streaky, or easy to scratch.  Although you will pay more for lenses with a high degree of visual quality, it’s well worth it.

Care can be broken down into two sub-segments: eye care and lens care.  Obviously, your eye care is the most important aspect of your sunglasses, which is why you must only wear sunglasses that offer maximum UV protection.  All of our Matrix sunglasses have lenses with UV400 Protection, which is the best protection for your eyes.

In terms of lens care, one of the best things you can do is to keep the lenses clean with a microfiber cloth.  This makes cleaning the lenses super easy, and the micro-fiber material will not scratch the lenses.  This is why all of our Matrix eyewear comes with a free microfiber bag (except for the Morpheus Sunglasses, which come with a hard shell case).

The fourth ‘C’ is color.   Jet black, slate, blue, and brown are all common lens colors.  Your choice largely boils down to personal preference.  All of our Matrix sunglasses have black & gray lenses.

Finally, the fifth ‘C’ is cost.  Do not break the bank, but obviously do not buy sunglasses at the local dollar store.  As the old adage says, “you get what you pay for”!  Our Matrix sunglasses offer a nice balance between price and quality [end…shameful plug!).

Shipping Policy Overview

January 15th, 2010

For this week’s post, I’d like to touch on everybody’s favorite subject – shipping policies for our Matrix Sunglasses!  Ok, but seriously, we get a lot of questions about this so I think it’s worthwhile to provide some specifics.  Other posts have touched on this topic, but this time I will be going into greater detail.

First and foremost, whether you order the Morpheus Sunglasses, Neo Sunglasses, Agent Smith Sunglasses, or any other style from our website, you can rest assured that you will NEVER be charged for shipping.  It does not matter if you live in the US, UK, South Africa, Pakistan, or anywhere else on Earth, you will enjoy free shipping every time you order a pair of our excellent Matrix Sunglasses.

Of course, there is a tradeoff here – while we do provide tracking numbers for US shipments, we are not able to provide these details for international shipments.  To do so would be cost-prohibitive, making our free shipping policy unfeasible.   The good news is that our packages rarely have any problems reaching their destinations, and in the rare cases there is a problem our policy is to immediately ship a replacement package.

We use the US Postal Service (USPS) for all shipments.  We aim to get packages out the door within 1-3 business days after an order is placed.  Once shipped, US customers usually receive their orders in 2-3 business days, and international customers anywhere from 10-15 days on average.

We ship all of our Matrix sunglasses in plain brown boxes, well-packed with recycled materials.  We do not wish to draw any unnecessary attention to our boxes, so we made a conscious decision to make them as unassuming as possible.   Depending on the country, colorful boxes that draw the attention of unscrupulous customs workers tend to vanish in thin-air.  We do not believe there is any reason to take this risk.

Finally, we mark all international shipments as “gift” in order to avoid customs charges.  Whenever a package is labeled as a gift, no value is declared and thus no taxes or fees can be levied.  This is not applicable for US shipments.

Well, that concludes your master’s course in MatrixEyewear.com ‘s shipping policies!  I hope you found it informative and helpful.  Check out our Matrix Sunglasses today, especially our best-selling  Morpheus Sunglasses, Neo Sunglasses, and Agent Smith Sunglasses.  I think you will be glad you did.

Till next time, “Mr. Anderson”…

Five Things to Do with Your Matrix Sunglasses this Holiday Season

December 22nd, 2009

The December holiday season is here!  Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa or something else, we here at MatrixEyewear.com wish the very best to you and your family this holiday season.

My family and I celebrate Christmas, so I am a little partial to that particular manifestation of the holiday season.  But hey, this blog is about Matrix sunglasses, right?  So, I figured I would combine the two subjects and list the top 5 things to do with your Matrix eyewear this holiday season.

  1. Give Matrix sunglasses as gifts to friends and family.  Neo Sunglasses, Trinity Sunglasses, Morpheus Sunglasses, the Twins Sunglasses, and even the Agent Smith Sunglasses would all make fantastic gifts for people close to you.
  2. Wear your Matrix eyewear wherever you go, especially on sunny and snow-covered days.  Each Matrix eyewear style comes standard with top-of-the-line lenses that are guaranteed to protect your eyes from all the destructive UV rays of the sun.  All of our lenses offer UV400 protection, which provides the best shield possible for your eyes.
  3. Buy the entire Matrix Sunglasses Package and distribute the 9 pairs of sunglasses to your most valued business partners and clients.
  4. Make sure your lenses are cleaned and ready to go for the New Year by utilizing the microfiber bags that accompany all styles (except for the Morpheus Sunglasses, which come with a free hard shell case).  The microfiber material is an excellent cleaning fabric that is tightly woven to eliminate the possibility of scratching the lenses during the cleaning process.
  5. Transform your Morpheus Sunglasses into a Christmas tree ornament! (ha, ha…I just had to end with some humor…which obviously is not my strong suit!).

So there you have it, my quick & dirty list of things to do with your Matrix Sunglasses during this wonderful holiday season.  Go ahead and give us a try and order a pair today.  Our Neo Sunglasses, Trinity Sunglasses, Twins Sunglasses, and Agent Smith Sunglasses are extremely cool-looking, high-quality shades.  I guarantee it!

Happy Holidays!
